LINE-UP OF HOSE TEAM DECIDED UPON
The Douglas hose team is "layin' low and ain't sayin' nothin'" but if anyone thinks because of their lack of hullabaloo that they have ever contemplated the possibility of the Kreuder cup leaving Douglas, as a result of the forthcoming hose races at Bisbee, that person needs a berth at Matteawan or some other nice quiet resort for the mentally deficient.
The way the local teams gets out in the early evenings in front of the Hotel Gadsden and tears up the slag dust is something that would be painful for those Bisbee fellows to look upon. True, now and then they fail on a connection and sometimes they are not as fast as they are at other times, but if they don't return from Bisbee with the Tombstone trophy again in their sack, then - well, somebody will have been proved mistaken.
With Shelton G. Dowell managing the buisness end of the team and Will Y. Hotchkiss captaining the bunch, these are the fellows who are expected to maintain the supremacy of Douglas as hose cart sprinters: Grover Davis, spike; Barnett and Jones, first swing; Leonard and Tom rice, second swing; Doran and Hotchkiss, tongue men; Willie Harris and Roy Reed, nozzle men; William Thompson, hose puller; Robert Arthur, plug man; Cook and Kelly, substitutes.
