Today, Cochise County is still regarded as rural, with the largest city being Sierra Vista which had a population of 45,308 in 2020. A neighbor of New Mexico, a stone's throw to Mexico, and a nearby military base all add to the county's uniqueness. Its history is reflected in the numerous unincorporated or low populated areas, many that were settled for a specific purpose such as Miracle Valley, and Warren.
