Y-Lightning Ranch

Mosen Ranch Brand

Cochise county Boasts One Of Largest Cattle Ranches In Entire State Of Arizona

One of the leargest cattle ranches in all Arizona, the Lightning-Y ranche of Cochise county, is now being developed into a modern guest ranch, the while retaining the color of the old West through its conduct of the cattle business on a pretentious scale.

The Lightning-Y is one of the few guest ranches in Arizona where the cattle industry still plays as important part in the conduct of the ranch.

But Lightning-Y is still a cattle ranch. More than 2,000 head of cattle roam its 25,000 acres, over the ranges to the refreshing watering holes, or to shady nooks where the grass is high and green.

That is the reason why this Cochise guest ranch is so popular with many world visitors. They delight in the work on the ranch, the roundups, the de-horning, the branding and the scores of other duties that fall to the way of the cowmen in the employ of the owner.

The business of providing amply and well for guests has not been neglected for the general ranch duties, however. Quite to the contrary, the guest phase of the ranch is made a business of itself, aside and apart from the general activities but in which the guests are welcome to participate if they so desire.

The Lightning-Y ranch is located near Hereford, almost within sight of the Mexican boundary line. Numerous cottages and other structores have been erected within the last two or three years to accomodate the guests.

The ranch offers outdoor sports throughout the year, such as horseback riding, hiking, mountain climbing, polo, tennis, ranch golf, horse shoe pitching, hunting and picnics in the beautiful pine-covered canyons of the Huachuca mountains.

The ranch has a delightful guest house, an attractive dining room, a comfortable lounging room, pool and billiard room and a veranda facing east that gives splendid panorama of the many mountain ranges.
