1917 Bisbee Deportation

The Bisbee Deportation was the illegal kidnapping and deportation of about 1,300 striking mine workers, their supporters, and citizen bystanders by 2,000 members of a deputized posse, who arrested these people beginning on July 12, 1917. The deportees were put on trains and left in the New Mexico desert. The event had long-time effects on the city and its residents. The University of Arizona Library has a list of all the names who were deported in both .pdf and .xls formats on their archive website. It also contains background information about the events leading up to the deportation.

The Arizona State Library has Cochise County Clerk's Office records regarding the 1917 deporation that are part of their verticle files list. 

Bisbee '17 is a 2018 film, that is partially documentary and partially based on a true events. It was directed by Robert Greene. It reflects on the events of the 1917 Bisbee Deportation, 100 years later; it is set in Bisbee, Arizona, both in 1917 and 2017. You can find out more about this locally filmed movie at this website.
